Green park, invisible energy: the first underground distribution station in the USA

The challenge

Construction of an underground distribution station in a residential neighborhood that needs to be quiet, safe and invisible to meet the aesthetic and functional requirements of the City of Anaheim.

The solution

Use of a technology (gas-insulated switchgear) that minimizes the space requirements of the station thanks to its compact design. Anaheim Public Utilities chose PFISTERER connection technology for reliable connection technology within the station.

Special features

The 40-meter-long and 34-meter-wide underground station is situated ten meters below ground and is covered by a newly designed park landscape. A total of 80 km of cables run underground, meeting the aesthetic and functional requirements in full.
